Recent Changes

My weekends are almost the same, I often wash my clothes, clean my house, cook something new for myself. So this last weekend was the same as usually. But I feel that I must change and do something new during my free days where I don't have class. For example, go outside for a walk and enjoy the nature, visit friends, go to cinema, everything that I can do outside my apartment. This weekend I was particularly very tired and I don't know why because I used to sleep enough during the previous week.

Many people have had at least one time troubles to sleep and I am among these people. I often have sleeping disorders when I am very happy, afraid, or when I am planning something important that I must do. I deal with my sleeping disorders differently depending on their causes. Sometimes I just think about something good that happened to me and I fall asleep instantly, sometimes I just pray and after I sleep calmly, or I make sure to finish everything I have to do before I go to bed.
Writing about Anger
One of the situations that caused me to become angry is when I have take my time to clean the kitchen, and after my roommate has come and dirty everything. In fact, I had cleaned the stove, the sink and the floor. After 2 hours when I returned from my class, the stove was dirty, the sink was full of dirty pans, and the floor had dirt stains. When I have see that show, I didn't say anything, I have directly go to my bedroom and [[#|listen to music]] to repress my anger. Always when something makes me angry, I go away from it and try to calm myself by listening to music or sleeping, and after I talk to the one who made me angry in order to find a solution to the misunderstanding and make sure that it will never happen again.
Dinner
I don't know if I can say that I almost never take dinner because during dinner hours I am always studying. But when I have a chance to take a dinner, it is many times composed of bread, milk and eggs. I think that it is good to eat something [[#|light at night]]. For example, soup or salad.
Weather
I have never seen such weather in my life. Here in the USA the weather is very different from the one in my home country. I think it is because Ohio state is far above the equator and my home country is almost near the equator. The weather here changes frequently, and it is not stable. In the morning the sun shines, and in the after noon it is raining as the sun was not shining in the morning. Sea otters are aquatic carnivorous animals and among their food are shellfish. In order to reach and eat the shellfish inside a shell, sea otters use their claws or teeth to open it. But when the shell is very strong, they use stones that they knock against the shell to force it to open. Instead of changing the shapes of stones, sea otters search with attention for stones of appropriate form and keep them for future use. Not often do sea otters use tools to feed themselves; usually young and old sea otters use stones instead of their claws and teeth to open shells. This sea otters' behavior shows their conscious thoughts and awareness in planning their chase.

About what you told me that you want to attend my school I can tell you that you made a good choice because I really like this school. Before coming here I considered many schools, but finally I chose Ohio University because it was the one which met the most of my criteria. My criteria were a school which is in Ohio state, which is not located in a big city, and which has a graduate program in telecommunications. I finally chose Ohio University because it met those criteria, and in addition one of my friends back home recommended it to me because he has been in Ohio University before. Also my parents told me to not choose a university that is in states with big cities but near them. So I found that Ohio state is near big cities like New York, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.

Using Criteria to Make a Decision
When I came for the first time in the United States I had to search for a place where to live. There are some major criteria I consider when choosing a place where to live during my studies. I look for:
- An off-campus apartment.
- An isolated building, that means a building that is not very near other buildings.
- A studious environment, that means where live only students.
- A quiet place where there is no much noise.
- A secured place, that means where there are no theft and violence.
- The walking distance to the campus.
- A furnished apartment.
- A reasonable price, that means a price that matches the value of the apartment.
- The number of rooms and bathrooms.
- Having a kitchen.
- Electricity, water and internet connection included in the rent.
So, between Riverpark Towers, Mill Street Village, Carriage Hill Apartments, The Summit and University Courtyard, I finally chose University Courtyard because it was the one that met the most of my criteria at that time.
How the Media Portrays My Ethnic Group
The media portrays Africa as one country, and that makes people from other continents think that all Africans are the same, that they have the same methods of governing, and that they have the same culture. For example, one day I heard a journalist saying, "We have participants from different countries around the world. We have participants from China, Japan, Indonesia, Africa, ...."
In addition to this, the media has the trend to always portray African presidents as short and fat persons so that, for example, they were surprised to see how the Rwandan president is tall and thin.
Furthermore the media often gives a false idea that Africans are poor and unhappy people, but not all Africans are poor or unhappy. Many African families have a normal and pleased life where they can pay the school fees of their children from infant school to college, eat good and healthy food, wear nice clothes, take vacation, etc.
